We have prepared this LabLetter to update our note of February 5, 2025.
On March 3, 2025 the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security published a Notice of Implementation of Additional Duties on Products of Canada Pursuant to the President’s Executive Order 14193 to impose additional tariffs on imports from Canada beginning on March 4, 2025. The U.S. is also imposing additional tariffs on imports from a number of other countries. We anticipate that the new U.S. tariffs will result in the imposition of counter-tariffs on products imported from the U.S. into certain other countries.
We have no ability to predict the impacts of these tariffs and counter-tariffs on our supply chain, and while we hope to avoid having to increase our prices, if circumstances beyond our control lead to increases in our costs, we may have to increase our prices accordingly. We will let you know if that is the case.
We regret any disruptions, inconvenience and additional costs which may result from the imposition of the U.S. tariffs (and resulting counter tariffs) and would suggest that new DSC orders destined for locations outside the U.S. be expedited directly to the final destination (in order to avoid additional shipping and tariff costs).
DSC is working toward the transfer of its business on June 1, 2025, and plans to provide further details regarding the purchaser later this month. We will, in the interim, be continuing to produce and deliver our products. Please let us know, as soon as you can, of any products that you wish to receive during the coming three months. (Inventory may be quite limited from mid-April to the end of May.)
